Building Cooperative Processing Applications Using SAA

John Tibbetts designed and led the team that built one of the first wave Systems Application Architecture (SAA) applications. He and developers from other inner-circle SAA vendors met on a regular basis to share experiences and trade suggestions and this book represents their accumulated wisdom. Early chapters deal with terminology and ideas--placing the cooperative solution in its historical, sociological and metaphysical context. Introduces VIDOR, the sample cooperative processing application that appears throughout the work as a running illustration for many concepts. Part Two concentrates on SAA-specific material focusing on underlying issues, little-noted nuances and practical implications for cooperative processing. Part Three lays out a number of design principles for multi-platform systems and Part Four shows these design models embodied in concrete bundles of componentry. New and hard to assimilate material is explained through the use of algorithms, pseudocode, demos and detailed diagrams.
