This English translation of the Codex Iuris Canonici was prepared by the Canon Law Society of America, based on current scholarship and canonical experience. This edition presents the Latin and English texts of the canons in parallel columns; and includes the fontes (sources) of the individual canons, two Appendices with the Latin and English texts of the new laws for the Causes of Saints, Divinus perfectionis Magister and Pope John Paul II's apostolic constitution Pastor bonus on the Roman curia issued in 1988. A detailed index and tables of corresponding canons for the Code of Canon Law and the Code of Canons of the Eastern Churches of 1990 are also presented.
Included in this Second Printing are the modifications to five canons promulgated by Pope Benedict XVI in the Apostolic Letter, Omnium in mentem (AAS 102 [2010] 8-10). The Holy See's Latin text and English translation of canons 1008, 1009, 1086 §1, 1117, and 1124 are printed with permission of the Libreria Editrice Vaticana.
