Flow Cytometry, Immunohistochemistry, and Molecular Genetics for Hematologic Neoplasms

Immunophenotyping is the most powerful tool in the routine diagnosis of hematologic neoplasms. Immunohistochemical technique is used in histology labs for this purpose, while flow cytometry is used in clinical labs. Although separately these 2 techniques are very useful in detecting lymphomas and leukemias, the combination of both creates a very powerful and definitive diagnostic tool.
