Golf Architecture: Economy in Course Construction and Green-Keeping [Annotated] (GolfMediaLibrary.com Classics Book 1)

As one of the great golf course architects, Dr. Alister MacKenzie’s Golf Architecture stands as a classic in golf literature. This edition includes all the original photos and sketches found in the original 1920 edition--22 in all--as well as an addendum that includes a glossary and references and links to courses profiled in the book by Dr. MacKenzie.

Dr. MacKenzie was a surgeon in Britain who gave up his profession to pursue golf course design:

“One of the reasons why I, "a medical man," decided to give up medicine and take to golf architecture was my firm conviction of the extraordinary influence on health of pleasurable excitement, especially when combined with fresh air and exercise. How frequently have I, with great difficulty, persuaded patients who were never off my doorstep to take up golf, and how rarely, if ever, have I seen them in my consulting-rooms again!”

Two of Dr. MacKenzie’s most notable achievements are Augusta National and Cypress Point.
