Henri Matisse 2015 Calendar
Henri Matisse 2015 Wall Calendar: Henri Matisse (French, 1869–1954) studied at the école des Beaux-Arts in Paris only to reject classical representation, instead relying on flat areas of vivid color and uneven smears of paint in his portraits, landscapes, and still lifes. The teachers he ranked above academic painters were the anonymous designers of exotic, brilliant textiles. From his exhibition at the Paris Salon d’Automne of 1905, when art critic Louis Vauxcelles flung the term fauve (wild animal) at Matisse for his use of unbridled color, to his last creative outpouring of large-scale cutouts, Matisse changed how we see art.
