Ion (The Plays of Euripides)

A series of editions of the plays of Euripides. The general aim of the series- through the emphasis may vary in different volumes- is to present a scholarly edition of each play based o n the text of Gilbert Murray. In each volume there will be an introduction, text and commentary. The commentary will give a thorough , though brief , treatment of textual problems and grammatical and metrical difficulties, and an elucidation of puzzling and disputed passages. But, alike in commentary and in introduction, attention will be paid to the literary and dramatic aspects of the play and its relation to Greek life and thought.
