Denise is moving into her brand new apartment in the suburbs when Nick startles Denise causing her to drop a box of glasses. Nick offers to help and Denise feels better about her move and new job.



A few weeks pass and some of Denise’s underwear gets mixed up with Nick’s laundry and the good vibes go south.



When Denise’s car breaks down Nick is there to repair it and in return she gets him a copy of the hot new console game.



Nick finds out that Denise likes to play games and they form very competitive console team.



When Nick decides to ask Denise out he finds out that she is a transsexual and had led a difficult life up until this point; still struggling to make ends meet despite her new job.



How will Nick respond when he finds out about Denise's difficult life and will Denise find happiness along with her serious gaming hat?



This novelette clocks in at just over 10,000 words as Denise gets a new job, moves into her new apartment, and meets a new friend in her struggle just to get by as she starts a new life.





The car whirred and clicked as it attempted to turn over, but failed every time. Nick tested a couple of wires, held some tubes, and played with a couple of connections before poking his head around the hood and signaling to Denise to stop. Nick knew the problem and shut the hood as Denise got out of her car trying to call for a cab.

"I can give you a ride to the mall. It is on the way to my shop."

"Thanks, how bad is it?"

"You didn't get it checked before or after you bought it, did you?"

"No, I probably should have but once I got the job everything moved so fast."

"I don't have my tools here, but from the way it sounds you could use a new set of plugs along with a tune up. The oil level is a bit low and ugly and your battery terminals could use a bit of cleaning."

"Wonderful, just what I need."

"Nothing significant, this model is known to have these problems. I can pick up everything at work today and bring home my tools. It should take no more than an hour or two to fix. Come on, let's get rolling. I have to be in by 9AM."

"Oh, yeah, thanks."

Denise hopped into the passenger side of Nick's car and they headed off in the direction of the mall. Nick's shop was a couple of miles down the road from the mall and they started talking on the way over.

"How much will it all cost?"

"It should not be that much. I get an employee discount so you really luck out there."

"Thanks so much Nick, when I got the job I didn't have a car so I bought a very cheap car, hoping that it would last for a year."

"Your model can be problematic, but it looked to be in pretty good shape. If you do a basic tune-up, change the oil, spark plugs, and filters it should be running without any problems."

"Thank you, which entrance at the mall?"

On the drive, over they continued chatting and Denise began to warm up to Nick chalking up the laundry room incident to an accident. He was funny and they both found themselves laughing by the time Nick pulled up to her entrance where there was a huge crowd outside.
