Hemstitching is a way to begin and end weaving on the loom without having to sew a hem or knot a fringe later, after the cloth has been taken off.
Learn an easy way to do hemstitching on the loom. This is an expanded version of the most popular tip in all my decades of teaching weaving. Many weavers want to know how to make the stitches and most books show only one illustration. In this book the process is shown step-by-step with 9 illustrations. It's a "stitch" done with a needle that protects the wefts at the ends of the cloth. It can be done when the cloth is off the loom, but it is much faster to do it when the cloth is on the loom and under tension. You will need a needle with an eye big enough for your weft thread to pass through.
Hemstitching is a fast way to begin and end samples so you don't have to machine stitch the edges after the cloth is off the loom to keep the wefts from unraveling before finishing.
