This book is provided to give all who wish to travel to Alaska some basic guidelines to make their travel safe, memorable, and truly the trip of a lifetime. We have arranged these pages into two sections: “Technical Considerations,†and “Highlights along the Way.†We do not seek to advise you on what to see or what to do. We seek to give you as much information as possible for the preparation and the planning of your trip as well as to provide guidelines to avoid those nasty obstacles which could hinder your enjoyment. We have taken from our experiences since our first Alcan trip way back in 1964. As of this writing, we have driven the Alcan thirty-seven one-way trips. For this 2nd Edition we have added road information observed on our trip in 2015.
