Satan's Secret and Selected Stories

English author Barnard Stacey was a prolific writer of short stories in a variety of genres during the 1920s, 1930s and 1940s, but his most distinctive—and remembered—stories involve the weird and mysterious. His story ‘The Devil’s Ape’, an atmospheric supernatural tale, has been a popular and much-reprinted work. However, like his best fiction, the author’s life is full of mystery. After the publication of his only novel, Satan’s Secret, in 1956, Stacey’s published fiction seems to have dwindled. This collection brings together the novel 'Satan’s Secret' and seven of Stacey’s weird and criminous short stories. Also included is ‘The Man Who Went to The Devil’, an earlier version of ‘The Devil’s Ape.’
