Soma (The Fearlanders)

Waking in an empty field, the moon a silver coin shining brilliantly in the firmament, Soma Lashari finds herself amid a herd of feasting zombies. Though her initial reaction is stark terror, the zombies do not attack, and she quickly realizes why.



She is one of them. Dead but not dead. A victim of the virulent Phage, yet in full command of her mental faculties.



As her memories come flooding back to her -- of her loved ones, and her life previous to the zombie contagion that stripped her of her identity -- she sets off on a cross-country journey to find the loved ones she left behind.



And though she finds support and something more than friendship in the guise of a silver-haired stranger named Perry Clark, an intelligent zombie like herself, the world has moved on during her mindless wanderings. To find the loved ones she has lost to the Phage, she will have to brave feral animals, desperate survivors, vast and deadly herds of ravenous deadheads, and the machinations of her fellow Resurrects.
