This is a revised edition of the original text written in 1999. This revised edition contains an updated bibliography, useful clarifications, and some new material.

Vieth goes into greater depth especially relating to the theology of the cross and vocation. More resources including Luther's Catechism, the Book of Concord, the rite of Confession and Absolution, and the writings of Martin Luther are included as invaluable resources for Christians living a life under the cross.  

Gene Edward Veith is currently a professor of literature, a college administrator, and a writer. He has written over a dozen books on Christianity, culture, and the arts. He has a PhD in English Literature. He and his wife have three children and currently live near Washington DC.
