As tourists play during an idyllic summer in northern Minnesota, they have no idea what's unfolding beneath the star-drenched sky at night.



But things turn explosive when a top politician's daughter turns up dead on the banks of the Mississippi River. Tony Leach, a game warden for the state Department of Natural Resources, begins working a case and quickly finds higher-ups within his own agency will stop at nothing to sideline him, even as the body count rises.



As the situation intensifies and a sordid portrait emerges, Leach finds loyalties crushed under the weight of money, power and sex. He finds it nearly impossible to get a handle on constantly shifting alliances, but if he fails to do so, Leach knows he’s as good as dead.
