The Voice Ball Protocol was developed and designed to fill a gap in voice therapy and how we teach breath support techniques. It bridges the art of voice and the science of breath. It discusses basic anatomy to help understand the physiology of how voice and breath coordinate. This allows the practitioner to provide healthy, effective and efficient feedback that ensures fast learning and smooth carryover of skills. It is for every type of voice client from singers and actors to the aging and elderly. The exercises are physical in nature and modifications are explained for those that cannot or should not perform comfortably. It is not a scientific journal that imparts empirical data but a practical handbook for novice voice professionals on providing critical effective feedback to every voice client. About The AuthorAndrew “Andy†Christler MA,CCC-SLP is an internationally requested speaker and lecturer in the areas of voice and swallowing. He’s a speech-language pathologist with over 15 years experience working in the areas of medical speech pathology. His undergraduate degree was in communication sciences, vocal music and nutrition sciences from Central Michigan University. Before and during graduate school Andrew worked as a Disc Jockey and Radio Personality. He performed as an invited vocal music artist and actor all over the great lakes region. He earned his Master's degree from Wayne State University in Detroit, MI in 2005. He has presented, in both English and Spanish, domestically and internationally in the areas of the professional voice user, manual therapy techniques, advanced diagnostic instrumentation (FEES, MBS, & Videostroboscopy) and mirror neurons and fundamental neuroscience. He has worked in pediatric feeding and swallowing disorders in the schools and actively practices using telemedicine technologies. He served as the clinical director for private practices and clinics in south Florida. As the Director of Education and Development for a mobile diagnostics company across New England and the northeast, Andrew places a practical approach to educating SLPs, nurses and administrators. He combines new theoretical knowledge with best clinical practices. He is professor emeritus of dysphagia, tele-rehabilitation, integrated practicum and bilingual diagnostics/interventions at the University Manuela Beltran in Bogotá, Colombia. Andrew achieved a convalidation of his titles to become a Fonoaudiologo (FLGO) in 2016. He was the coordinator of myofunctional therapies and feeding/swallowing disorders for a group of clinics servicing severely and multiply impaired children, adolescents and adults across Colombia. He is currently based in New York City and travels nationally and internationally as a clinical instructor and consultant.
