Understanding Epidemiology: Concepts, Skills, and Applications

"Understanding Epidemiology teaches students the skills required to think critically about public health problems. The text takes an interdisciplinary approach to solving epidemiological problems that prepares students for real-world applications of the material.

Students will learn to read, understand, and apply public health literature, develop research hypotheses and design appropriate epidemiological studies, become intelligent consumers of health information, and make distinctions and connections between public health practice and clinical medicine.

The activities and exercises in the text highlight the key concepts and provide students with an understanding of the science of epidemiology.

Specifically written for undergraduate students, the book does not assume a working knowledge of biostatistics. Understanding Epidemiology can be used in introductory epidemiology courses, as well as those in public health study design and research methods.
