Washington DC, also known as the District of Columbia , or simply "the District" is the seat of the United States political power is where the White House (home of the United States president) resides at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave., home of the Senate and Congress and all other political entities such as lobbyist groups like the NRA (National Rifle Association) and the national Parks foundation founded by Teddy Roosevelt to preserve as he put it "the beauty of this country or continent generations and all those that come after." Washington DC is also home to America's wealth of knowledge, including the Library of Congress, which houses the nation's most treasured documents from films to manuscripts, and everything in between the most famous of these documents. However, is the Constitution, which is a document that declared all the rights and freedoms, provided to all United States citizens under the freestanding of the new Democratic Republic of North America.

Aside from the halls of Congress and the Senate, the White House and to the Library of Congress, most visitors desire to see the Smithsonian Institution, which houses representations of every piece of history, unimaginable from the first efforts of flight and space travel to Archie Bunker's chair and Indiana Jones is Fedora. There is sure to be something for everyone among 137 million objects housed within the seven museums that make up the institution. Everything from fine art to pop culture, even the most discerning museum goers will find something to pique their interest.

Should you desire, however, to enjoy the sunshine rather than be indoors, no matter how spectacular the building or objects, then you might want to pay a visit to the national Mall (not a shopping center, more like a plaza), which houses famous memorials and statues such as the Vietnam wall a black granite wall with the names of all those who died in service during the Vietnam War engraved its surface (visitors can acquire rubbing paper and a pencil so that they may take a rubbing of a loved one's name from the wall as a keepsake. As a visitor, you will be able to see Lincoln's box as well as the door with the famous peep hole that John Wilkes Booth to spy on the president, as well as other artifacts such as the gun used during the assassination and some of the contents of Pres. Lincoln's pockets.

Rest assured, if you're not a history buff. There are plenty of nightclubs, bars and pubs and live music venues, which house all genres of music from jazz to blues, country and rock 'n roll. So you should be able to find something to suit your taste or moved. Not to mention that Washington DC houses some of the greatest restaurants in the world, where the dishes are made from scratch by world-renowned chefs.

If after your meal, you feel that some entertainment is in order. Then you should pay a visit to the IMAX Theater, this theater houses a three-story high screen that absorbed completely into the storyline of any movie.
